Understanding Common Copier Error Codes
Error codes look cryptic, but nearly every manufacturer groups them the same way: the first digits identify the subsystem and the rest identify the fault.
What the code families mean
A code beginning with a fuser identifier almost always concerns temperature — either the thermistor is reading wrong or the lamp is not reaching target. Scanner codes point to the carriage motor or home-position sensor. Communication codes concern the controller board talking to the engine board.
Codes you can clear yourself
Door-open faults, toner-not-detected and tray-lift errors usually resolve with a proper power cycle: power down at the switch, wait sixty seconds so capacitors drain, then restart. Reseat the toner cartridge and confirm the shipping tape is gone on a new unit.

Anything that trips repeatedly after a reset, any burning smell, and any code that mentions the fuser or high-voltage supply should be handed to a technician. Repeated resets on a thermal fault are a genuine fire risk, not an inconvenience.
